New Dakar Airport Light Rail Train Technical Base

The Regional High Speed Train Project (TER DAKAR) is a project currently under construction by the Senegalese government, providing a fast, modern, high-frequency railway line in Senegal, connecting Dakar, Diamniadio and the Blaise Diagne International Airport.

The Light Rail Train Technical Base is part of a Building complex for the maintenance, repair, cleaning and storage of the rolling stock and also administration offices. The SMR1 Maintenance Building includes work areas of tracks on stilts, slab track work area, maintenance lower level, workshop area, as well as storage and administrative offices.

The workshop will deal with preventive and corrective maintenance operations of railcars individually or in multiple units. In this building, Level 2 and 3 Maintenance will be carried out.

The SMR1 has general dimensions 115 x 90m and a gross area of appr. 15000sqm. The trains access is from the north side of the building. The predominant morphological element of the building is the roof of the central shed, a total height of 17.5m, with repeated triangular skylight sections facing north.
